"Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the ONLY thing that ever has!" — Margaret Mead |
It is truly a privilege to be able to honor our award recipients for their distinguished service to animals--they represent a cross section of our state's citizenry, from Santa Fe to Dixon, Ramah and San Ysidro. In an previous edition of the Santa Fe Animal Shelter and Humane Society's newsletter, TRACKS, there was a wonderful quote in the Director's column from Margaret Mead, which seems perfect for our purpose today. She said, "Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the ONLY thing that ever has!" Well, this small group of citizens to whom we pay tribute today is changing the world of New Mexico for the better! They have been selected for special recognition because of their outstanding contributions to the state of New Mexico's animal population. We are happy to be able to present 11 awards for distinguished service in 10 different categories, all signed personally by Governor Gary Johnson.
