Distinguished Service to Animals Categories

 

Animal Organization of the Year: Kindred spirits working towards a common goal can accomplish great things. This organization has ambitiously sought to promote public awareness, educational programs, and solutions to pet overpopulation or general animal welfare.

Individual of the Year: Time is a priceless commodity, and this exceptional individual has exhibited strong personal commitment through the longevity of his or her activities on behalf of New Mexico’s’ companion animals.

Journalist of the Year: This journalist’s efforts have brought animal issues to the forefront through print, television or radio reporting have engendered increased public awareness essential to creating a brighter future for animals.

Educator of the Year: Emphasizing the importance of practicing kindness to all animals, this grade K-12 or college educator has successfully communicated the principles and spirit of humane treatment to his or her students.

Veterinarian of the Year:An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Through education, service or discount spay/neuter programs, this board-certified vet has made a profound impact in the animal welfare community.

Corporate Leader of the Year: By donating substantial resources or demonstrating compassion for animals in their daily operation, this corporation has helped further the cause of animal welfare and forged a clear path for other companies to follow.

Young Person of the Year: Humanitarian action can start at any age. This young New Mexican has taken the initiative with a special project or unique act of animal kindness setting a positive example for other youth in the community.

Volunteer of the Year: Paving a path for others to follow, this person has dedicated priceless amounts of personal time, energy and compassion to the animals in New Mexico over the past year.
